Almamie Mankajang, Director of Audit, Projects and Development Unit
Mr. Mankajang joined National Audit Office in March 1996 as Audit Trainee. Since then, because of his experience, hardwork and public auditing knowledge, he rose through the ranks to the position of Director of Audit in 2018 before leaving for a masters degree. Currently, he serves as the overseer for the Projects and Development, the team responsible for auditing government funded projects and other donor support received on behalf of the Government of The Gambia.
Mr. Mankajang has undergone training in Information Technology, Financial Management and Accounting both nationally and internationally. In May 2018, he was part of the committee that was tasked to develop a new Pension Act for the Civil Service of the Government of The Gambia and also make recommendations for appropriate administrative and management procedures for the Pension Unit.
Almamie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration in 2011. During his time at the office, he had the opportunity to attend numerous professional development programs, such as a Diploma in Performance Auditing conducted by the African Organization of English – Speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) in 2015. In 2021, Mr. Mankajang concluded a Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance (MSc) in 2021 from the Cyprus International University. He has resumed his duties, and his unit, all of the NAO staff and the office continue to benefit from his skills and experience.
