NAO Participates in 62nd AFROSAI Governing Board Meeting in Morocco
Auditor General Modou Ceesay and delegation attended the 62nd Session of the AFROSAI Governing Board Meeting held in Rabat, Morocco, from July 7th to 11th, 2025. The event was hosted by SAI Morocco, following its successful election as the new host of the AFROSAI Secretariat after the end of SAI Cameroon’s term.
The week-long session featured a range of activities, including:
Roundtable meetings by respective committee members such as the Institutional and Technical Capacity-building Committee, the Organisational Capacity-building Committee, and the Editorial Committee of the Africa Journal of Comprehensive Auditing
Annual planning meeting of the Secretariat
Presentation of reports from statutory bodies and technical committees
Official handing over between the outgoing and incoming Secretary Generals
Presentation of AFROSAI’s strategic directions for the next three years
Presentation of external auditor’s reports of the Secretariat for the years 2023 and 2024 by Burkina Faso and The Gambia respectively
Communication from institutional partners such as the AU, IDI, GIZ, EUROSAI, ARABOSAI, and others
The Gambia National Audit Office serves as one of the auditors of the AFROSAI Secretariat, and its audit report for the Secretariat’s 2024 financial year was formally presented during the meeting.
In their opening remarks, AFROSAI leaders emphasized the importance of unity, innovation, and digital transformation in building stronger SAIs across the continent.
At the sidelines of the meeting, NAO held a bilateral engagement with the United Arab Emirates Accountability Authority (UAEAA) to explore collaboration in anti-corruption, audit methodologies, and addressing emerging audit challenges.
Chad was unanimously selected to host the next Governing Board Meeting.
