NAO Sensitizes UTG students on its Work
On July 25th, 2024, we held a sensitization session for the students at the University of The Gambia on the mandate and work of the NAO, as part of our public sensitization initiatives for the realisation of greater public awareness about the work of the NAO and its products.
In his welcoming remarks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Chief Director of Operations, Dr. William Jabang highlighted that the session is a valuable and timely opportunity for the UTG students. He further emphasized the importance of understanding the frameworks that ensure transparency and accountability and added “A good number of you will be absorbed into the public sector, and it is essential to understand the frameworks created to ensure transparency and accountability in your work,” he stated.
The students engaged with the NAO team on various areas, including the recurring audit findings observed during the National Assembly sessions on the audit reports, and also emphasized the need for concerted efforts and proactive measures for the implementation of the audit recommendations for greater audit impact.
Participants expressed gratitude for the session, acknowledging that it enhanced their understanding of the NAO and helped debunk some misconceptions they had heard about the work of auditors.
