Pa Majange Ndow (Deputy Auditor General 1 )

Mr Pa Majagne Ndow has over 25 years of experience in the public service. He worked briefly in a private audit firm as audit trainee after earning his first degree in 1995, before starting out as an Auditor at the National Audit Office in March 1996. Mr Ndow came through the ranks to become a Director of Audit in 2013 responsible for Administration and Finance matters, and head of the Extraneous Audit Unit. Mr Ndow is a holder of a Bachelor of Science (Accounting) and Master’s in Accounting and Audit, with strong working knowledge on auditing, financial reporting, administration and governance. He is also certified for completing the ACCA knowledge and skills levels.

He attended a number of training courses and workshops organised nationally and internationally in accounting, auditing, management, computing and facilitation skills. He served as a lead facilitator for an in-country workshop on regularity auditing in Freetown, Sierra Leone jointly organised by the African Organisation of English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E) and the Audit Service Sierra Leone.

Mr Ndow was awarded a letter of appreciation in August 1999 by the Ministry of Justice for aiding the Commission of Inquiry into the Financial Activities of Public Corporations in The Gambia as the lead auditor from July 1998 to August 1999. He also partly served as aid at the Janneh Commission, looking into the financial dealings of the Former President, H.E. Yayah Jammeh in 2018.

He was a member of the African Union (AU) Board of External Auditors in 2013 and 2014. Participated in the audits of the AU programmes and regional offices for the financial years 2012 and 2013. He also participated in the procurement audit of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) in Accra, Ghana in 2019.

Mr Ndow is currently the first Deputy Auditor General responsible for the technical aspects of the work of the National Audit Office and he oversees the Extraneous Audit Unit. The unit is responsible for the audits of statutory bodies. He also represents the Auditor General as an aide to the Public Enterprises Committee (PEC) of the National Assembly of The Gambia.
