National Audit Office Welcomes New Staff

In October 2020, National Audit Office (NAO) held its first official induction training for 12 technical staff that were hired to fill in the human resource gap that the office is challenged with. The main purpose of the induction training (which is a new approach as per our Strategic Development Plan 2020-2024) is to integrate new staff into the NAO and ensure they understand basic the systems and processes involved in the three main audit areas (Financial, Compliance and Performance Audit). Among the new staff, five of them were women increasing the female staff gender composition of the office.

A major outcome of the training is to determine the new staff skills and using that as a basis to distribute them to different audit units in the office. Earlier on in 2020, NAO established a Technical Training Group who are constantly being trained and equipped with opportunities to develop the induction strategy of the office. The opportunity was also used to familiarize the new staff with more information about the office, our role, work culture, mandate, and policy documents for staff such as the code of ethics.

As the office progresses with the implementation of  the SDP and focusing on outputs to produce clearer, high-quality, and timely audit reports, we hope that filling the technical positions in our office will help facilitate our work to produce more timely audit reports through teamwork and collaborative working.
